End of the Sean Connery Golden YearsBy the time that filming for "You Only Live Twice" rolled around, Sean Connery had been renowned as the British superspy for a good five years. No matter where he went, fans accosted him and made his life miserable. Even when he went to Japan, he found the phenomenon only intensified. He needed a break, and at times during "You Only Live Twice" he looked a little weary. The franchise was rolling along at full steam, though, so it couldn't wait for him. He finished his duties on "You Only Live Twice," one of the truly iconic James Bond films, and then stepped off the merry-go-round.
As with previous Bond releases, the theaters combined the latest two James Bond pictures and made them a double-feature.
The "You Only Live Twice" posters complete the transition from portraying James Bond as a suave seducer, to hyping the action and violence. For the most part, the advertising campaign features lots of explosions and gadgets such as autogyro "Little Nellie." in addition, the advertising focuses on series star Sean Connery more than ever before or since.
